My question is:  Should I go with the 19mm or 22mm H-Sport rear sway bar?   I drive my Mini nearly every day, so I'm a little worried to have too harsh of a ride.

Thanks for any input...

I'm running an H-Sport rear sway bar on my Mini and I'm very pleased with it.  One thing I like in particular is the zerk (grease) fittings on the bushing clamps.  If it ever starts to squeak it easy to add a little grease. (urethane bushings can squeak if they get dry)    I looked quickly and found that the 19mm Sport bar sells for about $219.00.  If you can get it for $169 that is a sweet deal!

Let me know if you want help installing your bar.  With two people, you can get the job done in a couple of hours.

I'd be more than happy to hold the other end of the bar and otherwise get dirty too, as this mod is on my list - just not right at the top - and I'd like to know what to do, or not do!

Hey,

I had a similar experience with them. I waited and called and was told they had problems with the order and was asked if I'd like an H-sport 25mm instead.  I am happy to report my H-sport showed up on my porch today so Pat, I may need some help buddy.  Hang in there, yours may be on the way.

25mm?!  Yikes!  That sounds extra big for a MINI

P.s.  Any of you who've replied to my post happen to participate in the Wine Tour last Saturday?  I was wondering if we've met or not.  That was our first MINI drive we've been on with the club.  It was a blast!   I'm looking forward to the next get together.

Cosmic - you are welcome to come - sounds like we will have several opportunities for you to come play.  Mitch - this weekend is out, and hapa67 might be coming over on the 27th/28th.  Not a good idea to try doing two cars at once - tried that once with RobN and Kulmini.  Probably best to do one at a time, but...  Pat

Pat ... Thanks much, I'll keep an eye out.  Let's see - two people a couple hours, plus standby help, planning time, admiration time, appreciation and rental fees.  Higher math yields at least a case of something!

hapa67 ... The deeper south group picked up a lone Chili at Southcenter last Saturday morning - that was me.

The wife and I were in "her" BRG MCC, "Leprecn", on the wine run.  I don't recall if we had a chance to speak, but if not, I'm sure we will soon.

As others have mentioned, go with the bigger bar!

I'm with Tristan.  Go big and just put it on the softest setting.

I put on the Ireland Engineering hollow 23MM bar (24/25mm equivalent), and have been tightening it ever since.  I started at about a quarter inch from the end, and am now about an inch in (this bar has a slider adjustment).  I get the car to rotate well in the rain if necessary to keep a corner tight, but in the dry may need to go a bit more.

I rode with one of the instructors in his very well balanced (and modified) GT3 at the last track day yesterday.  What a HOOT.  Jeff was steering with his foot as much as with the steering wheel.  I'm going tighter in the dry.  I'll mark the bar where it is for street and wet track days, and keep going in quarter inch increments until I can steer better with my foot when in the dry.

So, long story short, the 25mm bar might just be OK out on the end for daily driving conditions and wet track conditions.  You've also got room to adjust for dry track days.

If anybody wants to learn about throttle steering, we can make that a subject for the class Mark and I are still working on.  Mr. Cupcake?
