Latest update on AMVIV5 from NAM post:
"I just talked to Palace Station. At 9:30am on 10/18, over 5 months from the event, there are 118 rooms booked on our group rate. Our total room allocation is 320. You guys have already booked more than 1/3 of the available rooms. *applause* Looks like it might be a big event this year.   "

Hi all! I'm ordered my MINI and hope to pick up in a couple weeks. This trip to Vegas looks really fun but I'm sort of new to the area and would like to know more on the plans to get from Seattle to Vegas?
Do you guys stay a night somewhere in the middle? What route do you take to Vegas? How will the drive be with the MINI down there all the way?
Any sort of detail would be appreciated!

Ok we are gonna book our room. We figure even though we can't bring the
mini we can bring ourselves. Hopefully minus the kids and really has a good
time this year. Though we had a blast last year. Seeing we had the second
wedding last year maybe this year we will get the second honeymoon. We
will need to look into renting a mini or looking real sad and bumming rides
for the strip and anything else that might be fun. Though for Dave just
being around all those mini's is heaven.
Miss our PS Mini friends and look forward to the trip.

KXLight, you might want to check out the thread "AMVIV Wagon Trains". Last year most folks stopped somewhere along the way and made it a two day journey to Sin City. A group of us stayed in Jackpot, NV which was a good stopping point for us. This year I believe a number of us will take a similar route which goes across OR on I-84 to Boise or so and then head South to Jackpot (don't remember the number of the road at the moment). You are welcome to join our little caravan.

Trend...  The strip was a blast. If Dave can't come this year might have

Scratch that premature hope of registration. PayPal rejected me three times, and to this point no human has offered assistance - though I did spend an hour trying. I sent a message to Sin City.
Rather curious ... Anyone else successful?

The registration form is not attached to the purchase through PayPal, they are separate operations. The registration form goes directly to their database. Remember the note that ask you if your email is different from your PayPal - they are using this entry to verify the PayPal transaction when it shows up on their PayPal account.
When you scroll down to the purchase portion and select registration and other purchases, those items are sent to the PayPal system and then you can complete the transaction provided you have a PayPal account.

Don ... Thanks for the moral support. I did have a current PayPal account with a valid credit card, and it has the same e-mail address as Sin City. I had made it all the way to the final step of submitting the PayPal payment ... and then poof, off into bit land with the note "try again?" So, now there are three of me heading to Vegas. Hope we all pack light. Maybe I can stick one of the other two with the bar tab.

They haven't posted the schedule of events on the AMVIV website yet, but here here is the latest word from the NAM thread:
The itinerary should be up in a day or 2. Basically, there is a run on Thursday afternoon and a Motor-In Thursday evening.
Friday has the driving school and NAMCC races at the track all day, a morning run which ends at the track for lunch and the race, an afternoon run, the "Meet the MINIacs Mixer" in the early evening, then the Strip Cruise later.
Saturday has a run in the morning, Poker Run in the afternoon. The banquet dinner is Saturday night. Tickets have to be pre-purchased before you leave for Vegas, and attached to a registration.
Sunday morning is the farewell breakfast and a morning run, followed by a visit to the pub for those not driving a long way home on Sunday.
The Boot N Bonnet Show is at Palace Station all day both Friday and Saturday.
Thursday and Friday mornings there will be an "excursion" for anyone who wants a cool car-related Vegas thing that isn't a long drive.

We are heading back on Monday and I'm sure others are heading back on Sunday. We wanted a little extra time in Vegas so will be heading down the evening of the 24th.

Last year we left Wed AM arrived Thursday around 1PM. some left Sunday and some left Monday to come back.
We plan to leave Wed 26th fro arrival afternoon on 27th. Then leave Monday.

I plan to leave for Vegas on Wednesday and arrive in Vegas on Thurs. I'll be taking I-90 thru Yakima and then down to I-84, meeting up with GoMiniGo's group from the South. I'll start back to Seattle on Monday, but am still debating whether I come back the same route or go thru California and visit some family. I'll probably make that decision some time in March.
