Today was a great (cold) day at the Bremerton Motorsport Raceway!!!  We had a good turn out of MINIs and I think in the end, the scores were extremely close.  It was a blast watching Gordon, Tom, Martin and Dean  make their way through the cones and trying to stay on course even as the track became quite slippery in the afternoon rain! WooHoo

It was great to have Kristin and Rich out being part of the Team MINI cheering squad!!  Clap

Here are a couple of amateur videos of Martin (Wildfamily) and Dean (Charley or as we now call him Cone Killer) doing their best to push the limits of the course!

Looking forward to seeing more MINIs represented at a future autocross event!!!

Looks like everyone had a great time, boys are getting that autox down.  Would have loved to come out and support but I am still doing the bedroom remodel thing, getting close to being done.  Cone Killer must be getting some pent-up frustrations out by running over those poor defenseless cones.

Had a great time and fun hangin' out with my Mini "peeps"! The Minis jumped out of the gate with some pretty quick times which was a good thing since it started raining in runs 3 and 4. We let out some air pressure but it was still really slick in the wet and a lot of rubber laid down by the Porche club on Saturday and the AM runs on Sunday, but fun getting the backend sliding around the cones. The PM racers probably had their hands full and the times I'm sure will increase significantly for them. Oh well, early bird get the worm..and dry track!

Hi all, looks like everyone had a great time. The videos are really cool. Too bad about the rain!

Hope to be able to get out to one of these events. Post the times when you get a chance. The times from the last event were extremely close. How did the Mini's finish overall in their class?

Cheers!

It was a fun time. Sorry we had to split so quickly but we were running late and had to get going. I made it without hitting a single cone all day. But I did completely miss the last gate on the second run. Doh!

I got some good inside the car video that I will post once I edit it down a bit.

It also look like my tires are just about shot. The tread is starting to chunk on the outside of the right tires. Time to look for some bigger wheels and new rubber. I hope next time the end turns are right handers.

I'll was reviewing my in-car video last night...sure goes quick when you watch it on video. That back half where you do the loop into the cross-over is what kept slowing me down. Went in to hot...understeered and sliding. Needed to get on the brakes harder before entering the turn I guess.

I was losing time in the back stretch. Looking at the video I am all jerky. I really need to smooth it up and get into the corners without yanking the car.

I can't believe I missed the last cone on run 2.

Very cool Gordon and nice runs!!!!!!!!!!

How was everyone's time. On your video sound like 53 something? Just watching the video makes me want to try this but I'm so addicted to the track days. May have to do them both, track & autocross.

What type of video camera's and mounts do you guys have. Would really like to get in car video at Pacific Raceway.  Don't want to spend a bunch of money on a camera and mount since I rather use it for entry fees :).

Have you guys thought about doing the BMW or PCA events at Pacific Raceways? BMW has one on 5/1/08 and PCA 5/15/08. I think, John P., Larry, Jesse and myself are signed up for the 5/1 date and when registration opens on 4/17 I'll sign up for the PCA event.

Martin, please post your video if you can. Would really like to see it.

Nice work and thanks for posting the video Gordon!

Cheers!

Big%20smileWe were all running in the low-mid 50's...before it got wet. Last run was a bit higher.  I've got a "Cruise Cam" mount (I believe Gordon picked one up as well). They are inexpensive and work well. Mounts to the headreast rods. http://www.cruisecam.com/mounts.html

I'll try and get my video posted. I'm kinda of a dork when it comes to that stuff so will need to enlist the help of my wife on that end of things.

I definitely enjoy going to the track. I'm hoping to hit the Spokane BMW track day in June. Would love to do one prior to that as well, but that gets a bit expensive so I need to spread them out. Everytime my wife goes to the spa though I remind her it will cost her time at the track!

On Martin's recommendation I got a Cruise Cam mount. I just have an older digital video camera. I don't remember the brand. It would be nice if it had a little wider angle lens, but it works.

My best was 53.1 and change I think. I am waiting for the results to verify. My second run was 53.0 but I missed the last cone. My fastest was the last run even with the wet.

I'm up for more track time, I ran in January at Pacific, but like Martin, I have to space it out because of budget.  At $25 I can afford to autocross every weekend. Plus I get the feedback on how I am doing against the other drivers. Kitch frowns on that at Pacific.

Think I just got an idea for my Christmas list. Maybe Santa will be kind to me and get me a digital video camera and Cruise Cam mount.

In order to continue to do track days, I will have to cut back on the golf this summer. The boss has already warned me that I can't do both as often as I want :(.

The spa deal is a good idea to use as a barganing chit. The boss and her girlfriends seem to always find the time and $ to do pedicures, manicures and massages. All I ask is for my mental health days on the track & golf course. Seems reasonable to me!

Hope to be able to do the Spokane track weekend. Trying to figure out how I approach the boss.  Should I just ask her if she'd mind me going or do I ask her to go with me. But if she goes, we almost need to take 2 cars. I know she wouldn't want to spend her day at the track watching me and a bunch of other track junkies:).

You can't beat the price for Autocross ($25) to toss the car around a course and work on your driving skills. How did your times stack up against the field?

Cheers!

The June Spokane date was an easy one to get her buy-in on. It's Father's day weekend so what better Father's day present than to let your hubby go tear up the track for the weekend. She and the kids will be coming along too...my folks live not far from the track so will make a nice weekend combining Father's day and the track. Thumbs%20Up

Martin, piece of cake for you, how could she deny you and the kids the chance to visit family, particularly Dad on Fathers day...........for me??????????

Just have to be a little more creative on why this would be a good thing for me to do! Wish me luck!

Cheers!

Hey Martin, I seem to recall you Father is a car guy (mentioned on another post) so I have a couple questions.

1.) Are you taking him to the track with you as a Father's Day present?
2.) Are you going to share your car with him or is he entering with his own car?
3.) Who is most likely to have bragging rights at the end of the weekend?

By the way, I'll need all the help I can get so thanks, I hope the Force helps me.

Cheers!

Actually he came over here for the Autocross last weekend. We had fun comparing notes..he drove his Miata, I drove my Mini. He won't be doing the track day, but I know he will be there and enjoying the fun one way or another!

Geez..it's about time...let me check it out. Nice job Gordon! You got me pretty good with those clean runs. I think I hit the same darn cone each time coming into the crossover at the half-way point...too fast every time.
