The Bremerton Sports Car Club autocross season is starting this Sunday. I'm going to head out Sunday to try it (my first time). If you're interested in autocrossing, this weekend, or on a future date, contact me.

here is the information for this weekend's event:

So what do I need for autox? Do I need an inspection or can I just sign up and show up? What group would a stock MC run in?

I do have a helmet.

edit: I have registered. It looks like a MC is a Small Sedan. So I will see you Sunday Morning.

Cool, it will be great to see another MINI out there. There's some info on the inspection in the handbook http://www.bscc.net/images/publications/bscc.novice.handbook.pdf

I think I just might be up for this. I've never done autocross (except for as a co-pilot in my dads Jag XKE when I was a kid). I'll go and register today. Whoooo HOooooo. Been wanting to get out and play!

#68 in officially registered. See you guys on Sunday! Drool

Can't make this Sunday but would really like to try this again.  Are you all registered for the morning, afternoon or all day?

How many runs do you normally get to make in the afternoon sessions?

Please provide feedback on your runs after the event. Have fun!

Cheers.

PS: An E type------------ talk about a SEXY car. Does your Dad still have the XKE?

Boomer. This will be my first time...should be fun. I've done the slalom down at PIR the last couple years during the ABFM, but not an all out auto-X. Sounds like we will get 4 sessions (kind of doubt it though since there are 175 cars registered already). I'll be doing the AM session.

Oh, and the E-type is long gone...traded for a sailboat. My dad goes through cars like underwear! He now has a 540 Bimmer and a Miata...not bad drives either.

Wildfamily---your dad sound like a man after my own heart! Couldn't agree more, the 5 series and Miata are both drivers cars.

175 Cars-----------WOW!!!!! With that number of cars I too would be surprised if you get in 4 runs. Should be tons of fun, take pictures and provide a write up of the day, please.

Cheers.

Wow, that was a lot of fun. Got 5 runs in, started out at 73 seconds and got down to 60.7. The MINI's looked good.

It was interesting how the MINI's looked slow but weren't. I watched Martin follow another car and Martin looked much slower even though he posted a 5 second faster time. I think it is the stableness of the car. Plus Martin was driving pretty smooth.

Wow. Great time and great showing by the PSMini Mini contingent. Kudos to the Bremerton Sports Car Club. They run a well organized and efficient event. All drivers also spend time working the course so the reciprocity makes for a great event. All of the Minis ended up with nearly identical best run times which in fact were very competitive even against the experienced drivers in the non-novice classes. As Gordon and Dean stated, the MINIs just looked like they were so comfortable going through the course..very balanced and composed. I believe we will all be back for the next event on April 13th. I encourage more of you to turn out and try it. Lots of fun and inexpensive.

Can't believe some of those cars in the Novice division were really novices...that MR2, WRX and such were screamers...glad they wouldn't be in our class in the competitive divisions!

Sounds like everyone had a great time.  I can't believe how close everyone's time is. WOW--you all must have been trading secrets about the course or something.

At some point I hope to be able to get out there with you guys.  Couple of questions. Did your runs all take place in the morning group? The 199 cars with 50 novices were for the day or the AM session? How long did you have to wait between runs? Did you hang around for the afternoon session and how crowded was that session? Are you guys going to join the Bremerton Sports Car Club?

Congratulations on the times.

Boomer,

We all ran in the AM run groups. You have the option of running in the AM or the PM groups. Some guys ran in AM and PM, but if you do that you can only run in a class once..the next time it's "time only" (essentially practice but doesn't count). I had to be back up north in the afternoon so we took off around 1:30 or so. Of the 50 novices registered, 36 ran in the morning, so I'm assuming the rest ran in the afternoon. They really got the cars through quick...not much waiting around at all. Well organized and nice folks. I'll definitely be back in April.

We were there for the morning run, I left just after we finished as I had stuff to do. There were two run groups. We worked during the first and ran the second, so we probably started at about 11:00 and ran until about 12:30 so maybe 15 to 20 minutes between runs? I wasn't really watching the time.

We got 5 runs in and the afternoon got 4 it looks like. There were a lot of folks around, I would think there were at least 200 cars. During the morning run they mixed novices in with everyone else so there was no good way to tell the number of novices. Things moved along pretty well. I didn't feel like I was waiting too long between runs.

To make things even more interesting, I left my house in Federal Way and was merging on the freeway at Highway 18 just as Martin and Dean came by, so I was able to join in and caravan with them to Bremerton. We must have been on the same wavelength Sunday morning.

Just a reminder that BSCC is staging Kitsap Kup Autocross #2 on Sunday at Bremerton Raceway. We have 4 Minis signed up so far. Would be great to see some others from the club come out..looks like the weather will hold out for switch to summer tires. You can sign up in the novice class (like the rest of us) and have a bunch of fun. Check it out:

This is a great chance to test out performance driving in your MINI. The course is created with cones on a runway so there is lots of room. You run the course one at a time so there is very little danger. The group there is very laid back and accepting of newbies. You can run the course hard or easy as to your comfort level. The range of cars makes it so that an easy run in a MINI will still be faster than a lot of other entries. Plus at $25 when you pre-register makes it a deal. It is also one of the places where my bone stock MC can hold it's own.

Afternoon registration is from 11:30 to 12:30, with driving restarting sometime after 1

Cool..be glad to see you guys out there. You should run your car too..fun! We are all in the AM run group. Usually the novice class works the course first with the experienced classes running first. First runs start around 9ish until around noon

If you are coming, pay the $25 and take some runs. You don't need experience. It is not as big a commitment as the track.

Plus if you are running the view of the course is better from the staging area.Smile

I think I need to see how it works before I'm ready to try it, but look for us about 9:00.  We'll be your cheering section, and maybe Rich can get some pictures.
