I ordered some wheels off of eBay. They should arrive tomorrow.
Supposedly they are already mounted & balanced. Is there any reason why I
can't throw them on myself? Does the MCSC come with a tire iron/wrench?
I'll take them to les schwab or somewhere if I have to, but I'd rather avoid
the $$$ if I can. LOL

You should have a lug wrench and jack etc. in the boot.  They're zipped up in a little vinyl bag.  It's a very easy job to swap the wheels/tires or even rotate them.  I prefer to use a torque wrench to tighten the lug bolts but it's not an absolute requirement.

Be careful when you jack up the car.  Use a level spot, set the emergency brake and chock the wheels on the side not being jacked up.

How much did you end up spending, if you don't mind my asking?  I've been considering the eBay route to get some "summer" wheels, if I can get it past the home Financial Officer (i.e. my wife).  ;)

I paid $750 (incl. shipping) for slightly used rims and new Firestone Potenza
tires. Here's the auction #: 8053676913. I looked around and couldn't find
ones that I liked better for close to that price. Reputable seller, so I'm sure
the rims are in very good condition (hopefully!).

Oh, man.  You would have to point me in that direction.  ;)  Same seller, offering ASA AR1 black wheels with Kumho Ecsta SPT tires.

Same setup through tirerrack.com comes to nearly $1150.

/me is drooling now...

Anything titled "dumb question" begs a post from me.  Mike might be the man to ask about moving wheels around.  Last summer he was early for a motor, and we found him rotating his tires!

I thought the "dumb question" title would get some attention.
Wheels
should be arriving tomorrow!

The next thing will be new rear sway bar, some new springs, new struts, a
CAI, aero kit.......

Just do not add up the money spent on Mod-itis, at least with the wife present.....Talk about sticker shock...

Ok, they arrived today. After putting the kids to bed, I worked in the dark
getting them installed for an hour or so. Take a look:

Man, I really like them. They look nice but not to bling-bling-y. I was
shocked at the improvement over runflats! By the way, no I did not install
them on my inclined driveway. I moved the car out to the street on the
flat!

I was a little confused on how the jack interfaces with the car. It didn't
make sense to me and the manual had very little, if anything. I ended up
grabbing the jack from my Subaru wagon and it worked better than the
stock.

I forgot what a HUGE difference new wheels make over the stock vehicle.

Thanks, I REALLY like them. Non run-flats really do make a big difference.
Now I just need to got out and get a can of "tire fix" and make sure that
Mini's Roadside Assistance phone number is handy!

Your rims look great on you MCSC! I would suggest investing in a floor jack if you plan on doing any other mods, or just to rotate your sweet tires

Look forward to seeing them in person sometime in the future.

MINI-less... If God allows, I will have one again some day. :D

Can you say "HOT"?   Those are the best-looking wheels I've seen.  I go for fewer spokes because they are much easier to keep clean, and quite honestly, I can't count over five.

I'm going to show those to my husband!

The thought of fewer spokes & fewer little nooks to clean brake dust
DEFINITELY crossed my mind when purchasing. Thanks for the kind words.

Yeah, they look very good! They go well with the car.

They will definitely be a lot easier to clean than mine I can never remember how many spokes I have, just that it takes more time to clean the wheels than the car.

Driving in Europe is more fun!
