Due to high demand, I would like to organize a short drive to registration from our usual meet up point at the Smokey Point Rest Area, off I-5 N about 1 mile after exit #206. Meet at 7:30 AM on the trucker's side of the rest area. We will plan to motor north to Burlington Mall at precisely 8:00!!

My wife and I took the ferry across from Port Townsend last weekend to see the flowers. Disappointed that they had already cut 2/3 of the flowers. Not sure how much will be left by this weekend. Had a good drive from Dupont to Port Townsend however. Saw lots of other Mini's.

It's time again for an old-fashioned, picture heavy event feedback post!
First of all, thanks again to the MGCCNW for putting this event on again this year. Turnout was a bit sparse compared to other years, probably due to the weather. PSMINI had a pretty good showing however. Here's some pictures from the hastily arranged meet up at the Smokey Point Rest Area: There were a surprising number of trucks actually in the truck parking area this year. Usually we have it to ourselves. We didn't ask them to move. Dead camera batteries limited the number of cars I could take pictures of. I sure love a gold MINI however; this is Cheetah. Artsy shot at the mall. The rain had actually stopped for a bit but the beading left behind looked nice. PSMINI was well represented in the pre-registered category. And some members just showed up on the day of. Both are great, but remember that the pre-registered drivers get to leave first! Here's another attempt at a closeup on one of our pretty MINIs. A long time ago people took pictures with cameras (not phones) and those cameras had straps to help hold on to them. Sometimes the strap made its way in front of the lens, and that is what you are seeing here. Oops! By the time the rally was over the camera batteries were truly shot, so no more pictures. We finished with a score of -3, missing again the "What is yours to protect" question (the answer was the particular stream we were crossing) and one in the Padilla Bay center. We feel funny about going in there looking for clues, because we always see people who are in there to actually learn and enjoy about Padilla Bay and we feel like the rally participants take over the place. We are all polite and well mannered, but that still doesn't mean that it's not disruptive. The last question we missed was about the taxes- it was the last question for us and we got lazy, not looking hard enough for a tax preparer with names (Hewitt and Jackson) and settling on one with a picture of a man in a cape on the sign. The car that won in the PSMINI category was unknown to most of us- we didn't really hear the name as it was announced (PA was too quiet) and we didn't recognize the people or car. If you are them or know them please let the rest of us know. We'd love to properly congratulate you and know who we will be up against next year! Bruce and Stacie |
