With a special thanks to our existing board for their service in 2011, it’s time once again to elect PSMINI Officers that will serve as our Board of Directors for the next year. Nominations are now open and will close in 3 weeks on February 7th. Paid members may submit their name to run for one of the positions or nominate another paid member (out of courtesy, please make sure you have talked to them about it first).  Nominations may be done either through this thread or an email to psmini@psmini.org indicating your interest in running for a position.

The positions are as follows:

·         President (currently held by Linda Grouell /‘WOODSTOCK’)

·         Vice-President (currently held by John O’Melveny /‘PEABODY’)

·         Financial Officer / Treasurer (currently held by Karin Nilsson / ‘TWIZZLR’)

·         Events Officer (described as Master at Arms in bylaws and currently held by Kurt Hammond / ‘CORNERS’)

·         Communications Officer / Secretary (currently held by Leanne Powell / ‘CATLVR2’)

Responsibilities for each position are described in the bylaws as follows:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OFFICERS

1.       PRESIDENT

a)     Preside over Club meetings as defined in the Bylaws of the Constitution.

b)    Formulate meeting themes and set agendas.

c)     Maintain a file of monthly financial reports as received from the Financial Officer.

d)    Appoint individuals to complete the unexpired terms of office when vacancies occur.

e)     Appoint a Newsletter Editor. Assist the Editor in the production and distribution of the Club newsletter including contacting regular contributors and upcoming event organizers to ensure their copy meets deadline.

f)     Appoint a Web Master to oversee the maintenance, preparation and operation of the Club Website.

g)    Formulate a creative column for the Club newsletter on a monthly basis. Information on upcoming and past events as well as general Club news and information should be included.

2.       VICE PRESIDENT

a)     To assist the President as needed with sponsorship activities and any other club related events.

b)    Preside over meetings when the President is unable to attend.

c)     Fulfill Presidents duties if he/she is unable to carry out.

3.       FINANCIAL OFFICER

a)     Maintain the Club’s financial records and account.

b)    Implement financial policy as prescribed in the bylaws of the Constitution.

c)     Provide a financial report at each Club meeting for review and approval of the Officers.

d)    Provide the Club President with a monthly financial report.

4.       COMMUNICATION OFFICER

a)     Prepare minutes for the Club officers.

b)    Provide information concerning the Club to prospective members.

c)     Edit incoming newsletter material for posting.

d)    Maintain a file of original membership applications.

e)     Maintain and distribute membership rosters to members.

f)     Shall oversee the web site, coordinate the content and assemble.

g)    Responsible for posting “web based” newsletter onto web page

5.       Master at Arms

a)     Liaison between other regional car clubs to assist in coordinating mutual events.

b)    Assists in sponsorship needs.

c)     Coordinates events and nominates “run leaders” as needed.

The names of nominees will be posted in this sub forum as they are received and online voting will begin February 10, 2012 and conclude February 18, 2012. Ballots will indicate the final list of candidates for each position and can be accessed by each paid member. There will be one vote per paid membership. Results will be announced on or before February 24, 2012, once the election results are verified.

Couldn't agree more!!!   Thank you to all the officers that served this year!! The club wouldn't be the same without you!!! Also a big thanks to Beth for her role in keeping membership of the club running smoothly!

I'm sure the current officers appreciate the show of support - but it is healthy for any organization to have new ideas and new ways of looking at things brought in on a fairly regular basis.  There are lots of people in the club who could step up and offer to serve - good for the club and good for yourself.  If you have not considered running, or if you have considered it but are holding back, it might be time to give it some serious thought and give it a try.

I'm afraid that I won't be able to serve on the Board for the coming year.  Work has been cutting into my available time.  I will certainly help in the transition to a new VP.  This Board has been great, and this was a difficult decision to make.

This is the last week for nominations and I encourage everyone to consider supporting the club by volunteering for an office or serving in other ways to continue to make things successful.
 
We definitely want to involve a group of people fairly soon to help plan out the events for this year and get rolling so whomever ends up in that position will have lots of help!
 
If I decide to run as President again, I would really like to mentor someone this year to take over as President next year.  My preference would be to have them take the position with me beside them to use it as an oppportunity to pass along my knowledge and get some additional documentation in place regarding the 'inner workings'.  Anyone out there interested in doing that type of thing with me?  I do have a few things that I still want to try to accomplish before I head out to pasture and I really want to see those through - just takes some time.
 
I'll post candidates soon, so let me know if you have an interest in any of the positions!

Gee, thank you! I am truly flattered. I will seek and strive to be the best at this position as I can possibly muster. I would appreciate feedback/support/advice from previous Event Officers if elected though.

There have been a couple of changes in our line up for next year.  Karin has decided not to continue as our Financial Officer for 2012 due to increased demands from her business and other interests.  Thanks for your service and contributions, Karin, and your business success sounds like a good problem to have!
 
That said, Dave Rinker ('Dave's not here'), who has been an active participant in our club, has volunteered to run for this position and we're looking forward to having him involved!
 
I'll post about the voting process (even though everyone is running unopposed) in order to satisfy the by-laws within the next day or two.
