For those in the 'north' end, several of us will be meeting at Frost Donuts in Mill Creek town center at 1030am on December 1.

Stop for some donuts and strategic planning before caravaning down to Overlake Christrian Church where we go head to head with the expensive sports car club that shall not be named.

See you there!

Mini Coastie, THANKS VERY MUCH FOR ASKING SS MINI!!!

Last year we had a pretty good group from SS MINI support this event. It's not about the Clubs, it is about our community and having a COOL CAR, MINI or Porsche provides the excuse to have some fun with like minded people that want to assist others in these tough economic times.

Hoping we get as many if not more MINI's and Porsche's supporting NW Harvest again this year!!!

Thanks again!

Cheers!

I coming from the south. I was hoping to coordinate a meeting spot at Bahama Breeze or Starbucks at Southcenter Mall. Maybe meet there at 11am? Stay tuned for a more specific time.

I'm open for suggestions...  I'm not familiar with any places along our route south of Tukwila. Are you?

I live like a minute away from a Krispy Kreme in Tacoma. It's just not nearly as good as a good old fashioned place.

Admittedly, there are some unknowns here:

1. the weather ? (it seems to be looking up though!)
2. How many Porsches will show ?
3. How does anyone navigate the one-way streets of Redmond ?

But, there are some things we know for sure:

1.  MINIs and MINI owners are WAAAAAAY COOL !
2.  The surest way to intimate those Porsches is with a big turnout of MINIs
3.  MINIs can fit way more of anything into them than a Porsche.

GO, Team MINI ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! WooHoo

I don't know and I don't care who wrote the post I got in my mailbox about the challenge, but if that's the tone the club endorses for it's official communications, I will not be renewing my membership.

I have two cars, one is not a MINI, and if I happened to own the other brand of vehicle as my second car, I would show up in it after that post.

Say all the nice things you want about MINI Coopers, say our cars are more fun, say we raise more for charity, but don't insult others or their owners.

p.s. MCSC are not exactly fans of Seattle Winters either.  Winter is for MINI Countrymans.

swhobbit: That email was more than likely written by me (but I don't recognize your handle) if it went on about removing the car cover, battery charger, dusting and fear of lost value & damage to the interior from moisture. Sorry if you took offence----------------NONE INTENDED SINCE I'M A PCA MEMBER AND PROUD OWNER OF A @2001 PORSCHE CARRERA TURBO.

Many of the things mentioned in that email are in fact things I consider with driving my BEAST!!!!!

If you noticed the PS: at the end of the email, I mention the guys I know with both cars ARE NOT WIMPS ABOUT THEIR CARS OR DRIVING THEM IN BAD WEATHER.

It was meant to POKE FUN ----------------NOT INSULT!!!!! SORRY IF YOU FEEL UPSET!!!

Cheers!

OK----here is my email:

All you people own MINI’s (lucky), so here is a friendly reminder that an EPIC battle is about to take place for the THIRD TIME!!!! The date is DEC. 1, 2012; Time is: 12:00 PM NOON; Meeting Place is: OVERLAKE CHRISTIAN CHURCH, Redmond, WA.
The weather forecast is GREAT FOR MINI’S but not so hot for Porsche since it calls for showers and 49*. Those wimpy, anal, show offs with P-CARS will be having mental breakdowns thinking that if they remove the car cover, battery charger, dust it, and check tire pressure the car might get wet ------------GOD FORBID------------------------WILL THE VALUE BE NEGATIVELY AFFECTED, WILL THE PAINT BE RUINED, THEIR SHOES WILL BE WET, HOW WILL I AVOID BRINGING DAMPNESS AND POSSIBLE FOREIGN OBJECTS INTO MY PRISTINE INTERIOR!!!!!
Thanks to SEATTLE MINI I’ll be piloting a MINI--------------------DON’T THINK A PORSCHE DEALER WOULD ALLOW THIS, A TEST DRIVE OF OVER 10 MINUTES IS TOUGH ENOUGH!!!!!
So get your BOOT FILLED WITH LOOT and GET TO THE CHURCH ON TIME!!!
If you are in the North End, come to Frost Donuts about 10:30 AM Dec. 1 to have a cup of coffee and a sweet treat to set the course for the day and BS with your fellow MINI Pilots!!
Get ready to give Porsche a little WHOOP ASS KNOCK DOWN. They may have NUMBERS but MINI HAS HEART!!!!
Here’s some websites to get more info:
PS MINI:
Frost Donuts:
Overlake Christian Church:
If you can’t make it to the actual event, Haury’s Lake City Collision has been kind enough to set up a box to collect donations.
Cheers!
Greg
PS: ALL THE GUYS I KNOW THAT ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE BOTH MINI & PORSCHE IN THEIR STABLE ARE NOT ANAL WIMPS SO THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION DOESN’T APPLY!!!!
PSS: Feel free to send this on to other MINI owners and get them involved!

Maybe you take offence at WIMPY ANAL SHOWOFFS-----Well, that really applies to me. I am kind of wimpy with taking my P-car to the track!
I am very anal about the cars appearence and maintenance.
PLUS: I don't mind SHOWING IT OFF whenever I get the chance!

In term of driving it in the rain, MY P-CAR is AWD so I never hesitate to drive it in RAIN OR SNOW. After all, the car was BORN in GERMANY-------Not exactly a warm weather zone.

I also consider everything else written in the email and even sent it to Bauer (PCA PRESIDENT and LARRY N. the social chair).

Basically I'm speaking from personal experience but I'm not as bad as some car owners including MINI owners that NEVER DRIVE THEIR CARS IN THE RAIN. You even see this in their adds when they sell their cars.

If you still have concerns, shoot me an email. I DID NOT INTEND TO INSULT ANYONE------------especially MYSELF!

Cheers!

Elliott and I will be there- Stacie probably won't as she is going to take some work that day before her show.  I'll show up with a couple of bags of the QFC/Safeway "help out for the holidays" food.

There's a really good donut spot in Lakewood but that's pretty far South if we're planning to then caravan up all the way to Overlake (Redmond). Honestly i don't know of any donut places in the Kent/Auburn/Tukwila area. Great coffee places are abundant but not really donut shops. I googled and found a donut place called "Dockside Donuts" in Fife that looks decent. Although off the beaten path.

There's a Top Pots Airstream trailer in front of the Mclendon Hardware Store in Renton. Yup, typed that right. A Top Pots (like the fancy donut shop at Bellevue Square and downtown Seattle) Trailer at a Mclendons in Renton.

So, couple of options. Parking lot is huge at the Mclendons and just off 405.

Starbucks at Southcenter works for me too. They have sweets, just not in great supply and for a hefty price, but centralized location.

Okay, see you at Starbucks just south of the Southcenter Mall at 10:30 (with some time to buy sweets and coffee). Wink Don't forget to bring your walkie talkie radios (if you have one or two) and tune them to 7/21 (Channel 7, sub-channel 21).
Just so there's no confusion, there are two Starbucks near the mall. The one I'd like to meet at is located at:

Anybody else notice the shout out we (and the Porche club) got in the MINI USA Newsletter for December?  Had a link to this post.
5 race wins, 2 in the rain. 2nd in ICSCC G Production Championship 2005 and 2006. Now I'm just gonna drive the MINI.
