We are going to join the group for the Chelan weekend and are looking to buy a FRS radio. Does anyone have a favorite brand/model?  Thanks!

Cobra. And don't waste money on super range models - without a license you can only use the .5 watt frequencies - not the 5 watt bands that require an FCC license.

I found some review site and mistakenly bought these
Midland GXT1000VP4 36-Mile 50-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio
I was able to hear the club members talk on Channel 7-21, but was unable to broadcast.

So I returned them and got a pair of Motorola from Costco
Everything worked fine after that.

I bought the same set the Kuren struck out with similar results (Midland GXT1000VP4 36-Mile 50-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio ) and then went to Costco and bought the Motorola set that works!
