Our 05 Mini Cooper has crossed 100,000 miles and needs a new clutch.  Does anybody recommend where to get it fixed in the Bremerton area?  Is the Northwest MINI the safest bet to go to in order to get it fixed?  Thanks for any suggestions! Smile

We had South Lake European do our '05 R50 and they did a great job and was cheaper than Northwest MINI. Two thumbs up.

just to clarify, are you replacing it because it's 100,000 miles or because its starting to slip?

The clutch is definitely slipping.  When you make the transition from gears and try to accelerate it only revs but no acceleration... Unhappy

Gordon & Clifford~  Thanks for the heads up on South Lake European. We will definitely ck it out!

Does anyone else agree with this garage or know of another closer to Bremerton that's good?
If time/distance becomes an issue, are there opinions about NW Mini service?

Thanks for input!

I've used both South Lake European and NW Mini with positive experiences at both.  I chose South Lake European for a service that was not covered by my warranty or extended maintenance plan.  That service at South Lake European was about $200 less than the dealership and they also gave me a club discount (NW Mini provides discounts as well).  For a service not covered by warranty I would recommend an independent mechanic due to the cost differential.

I can do a clutch job on an R50 as well for a lot cheaper than a shop but it's a bit of a drive (Bothell) and I don't have loaner cars... Let me know if interested.

And go with Valeo instead of OEM.  I'm liking mine and it was much less expensive!

I installed Valeo for my engine rebuild and I like it much better than stock. The prices are coming down as well. A full kit including flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disk, throwout bearings and bolts is $360 now.
