Topic: SCCA member, local events? Posted: February/28/07 at 3:29pm |
I used to do practice days with BEACC (Boeing Employees Auto Cross Club) but once my wife left Boeing, I was left high and dry.
I'd like to get back into the local events, I've checked out the WWSCC website from time to time, but if anyone has any tips for AutoX'n the Mini at the next local event, keep me posted. I'd like to check it out.
I've only done practice days...not sure what's involved with the actual events. I guess I'd run novice this year...
I have my SCCA license, so I'm ready to go!

I am the hardcore autox nut...
Keep checking the WWSCC calendar, find an event that fits your
schedule and go. Overall they are not much different than the
BEAC practices, but not as many runs.
You show up early enough to register, tech and walk the course.
The registration hours are posted in the event info page linked from
the calendar. Generally, they are the same for each event.
Oh, novice is not a season long thing... You can only be in
novice class for three events. It is there to help identify the
people that are just getting started so we can help them more
effectively.
I invite you all the come out and give it a try.

So I've looked at the registration forms and they make you catagorize your car. How do you find out what class to run your car in??

Stock S runs in G Class, I believe. There are several members into Auto-X. Motoring, MikesMINIRox, SharkReef, and a few others. There are also drag Fridays at the Bremerton Motorsports Park in Port Orchard. MikesMINIRox and Sharkreef are/were regulars.

Ok...will do.
The MCS that I bought has a few add-ons that were done by the previous owner...this is going to bump me up into some sort of modified class once my "novice" stature runs out. Not sure what that will put me against...but is it bad news?
(strut bar, works air box and who knows what else under there...)

Yes it will, but it depends on all the changes and the tires you chose to run on. I'm at most of the local events, come talk to me.
