I picked my MCS up with 64k on the clock.  My gut tells me that the previous owner would probably not do the service if they knew they were going to get rid of the car.

Can someone tell me what's involved in the 60k service?  I'd like to dig around a bit to see if I can find any signs of it being done.

Thanks,

Todd

Todd,

I'd suggest contacting NW Mini and asking them to run your VIN# in their system. If it's been serviced by any Mini dealer they should be able to pull up it's complete service history since day 1. I did that when I was I bought my BMW a few years back from a non-BMW dealer. Went in to Seattle BMW and they pulled the complete service history allowing me to have complete insight into the cars past service before finalizing purchase of the car. Great piece of mind!

Warning!!! Just BE CAREFUL! Buy the Spark plugs your self! You'll save over $20 if you do those yourself Unless that is you have the Iridiums. Make sure they don't mess with them! If you can, be there right after they get done driving your MINI. It's harder to say no to something that doesn't really need to be done when you aren't there in person to SEE it 1st hand.

Usual 60k stuff that I remember (add to my list if you can think of other services done)
Oil & Filter
Serpentine Belt (c/s?)
Checked Compression on all Cylinders
Cabin Filter (this is good to have changed!)
(they charge you to top off your Windshield Washer Fluid) Huh.....

If you have more done just be aware that it will go WAy beyond the $800-900
Good Luck & Motor On!
MINI-less... If God allows, I will have one again some day. :D

I'm terrified to do my own plugs! What if I strip them?? :( They're going to
drive it? some sort of test drive? What am I supposed to be looking for? I'm
so confused!

So can I tell them to only this and that? I'm more concerned about
mechanical stuff that washer fliud. THAT I can do myself! :)

From the new Bentley Manual....

Inspection II Service -

1. Replace air filter element
2. Replace engine accessory belt @100K for Cooper, 60K for 'S'
3. Replace brake fluid every two years
4. Replace coolant every 4 years
5. Replace Oxygen sensor every 100,000 miles
6. Replace Spark Plugs @ 100,000 miles

7. Plus Oil service.
8. Replace interior ventilation microfilter
9. Check Brake pads and Calipers for wear
10. Check and adjust tire pressure

The only thing of major issue is changing the brake fluid.
