Autocross at Packwood this weekend (5/19/2007 - 5/20/2007)

Time only on Saturday

Competition on Sunday

My son did his first Autocross last weekend and had a blast. He has talked me into trying it out.  So we will go Saturday

Well that was kind of fun.
I was a little nervous about hurting my car.
Guess I'm not as aggressive as I was when I was younger.

We will be autocrossing in Packwood again 23rd and 24th of June.

Saturday will be a little different, it is called ProSolo and combines a drag race start with two mirror image autocross courses.  Two cars run at the same time, first one back wins (more or less)

Sunday is a regular autocross.

Packwood is on Hwy 12 between Mt Rainier and Mt St Helens.   The event is on the Mill Property.  Look for the traffic cones pointing the way in from Hwy 12

If you plan to Mapquest the route, Hwy 123 on the east side of Mt Rainier is closed for the year.

the most direct route is Hwy 161 south out of Puyallup to Hwy 7, then 7 to Morton, then 12 to Packwood.  there is a nice forest service road that cuts off some time, but it is easy to miss on the way there, but great for the trip home.  (Skate Creek Road, turn off of 12 at the Shell station in Packwood and head north, it puts you out near the Longmire entrance to Mt Rainier)

That sounds like something that I would enjoy!!! BUT, I'm in NS4 STS so I wouldn't stand a chance against the WRX group Lowering Springs alone should NOT put a plane MINI COOPER in a class with those boys!!!!! It's just not right!

I would not recommend saturday as your first ever autocross.  the format is confusing, and does not really allow for instruction.

Sunday would be a great day to give it a try.
Mike did a pretty good run down of what happens
http://www.psmini.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=211&get= last#4517

a minor change,  PM registration is from 11:30 to 12:30

You can preregister at www.wwscc.org (registration will open in a few days)  there is no penalty for preregistering and you save $5  Register for Novice class (either Am or Pm which ever half you plan to be there)

You could run in T class with an fsp index...

to be honest, the rules are what they are.  You as the driver have two choices, prep your car to be competitive or prep your car the way you like it and autox for fun.

Several of the drivers in our NS4 class are trophy winners from the national championships, yes it is a tough class.  Most of our classes are tough.
