What a great event this Saturday! It was my first PSMINI event and I was impressed by how well organized everything was. Awesome job!

It was great to meet fellow MINI enthusiasts and check out all the great cars.

As I had feared, I couldn't keep my credit card in the wallet (hard to do at 15% discount and no sales tax) and picked-up a Alta CAI.

This afternoon was install time. It took me a little more than the advertised 30min, but overall I was satisfied that everything went pretty much without any swearing . Flitzer2 is now sounding quite a bit meaner. Definitely more supercharger whine and I also got the much talked about (in NAM) initial whine/sucking sound. First I thought I had done something wrong, but after reading through a few threads it seems to be typical for the Alta CAI.

I know that Sanderskog got an Alta CAI too, so I'd be interested in comparing notes. Perhaps even compare sounds, since we live about 5min from each other

Not sure yet if there's much HP/torque gain, but it certainly sounds faster

Any other Alta CAI drivers out there?

I don't know how much HP gain there is with the CAI, but what I noticed IMMEDIATELY was the pull that I got.  It felt like I had added a whole bunch more torque.

Do you guys also have that initial whining sound when accelerating?

Kinda sounds like a circular saw going through hardwood. It lasts for about a second or two and then goes away. Speculations on NAM are that it's the throttle opening and air brushing by, which sounds logical to me.

Happy Motoring!

Yep, I get that, and love it.  :)  Let's me know that the SC is doing it's job.

I love my Alta CAI.  It sings better than the fat lady.

Outside of the obvious WHINE when things are really spinning up, I like the hissing sucking sound it makes when you first get on it and the air is rushing by the throttle.  It's best when the windows are down.

Reminds me of my Dad's 1960 T Bird with the 430 cubic inch motor.  When you stomped on it, the hissing sounded like it was going to suck the hood in.  Not quite so here but the pleasure is still there.  It also would lower one fender a couple of inches like it was going to tip over, but that was something else altogether....

The question is, "When you turn on your car does it return the favor?"

Spoken like a true "salesman"... Wink

I heard the stubbie antenna gets you 2-3 HP.

Where's my Kool-Aid anyway?
