Topic: Help with a front strut problem Posted: October/09/07 at 2:43am |
Okay I have appointment with NW next week. I had a squeak on the passenger side, it has kind of been there but with the weather getting colder I narrowed it down to oust side . So I lifted things up and took a look. This is what I found. It looks like to me the blue retainer for the boot has cracked and come loose causing the boot to get pinched in the spring. NW and I understand they can't make a warranty call till they look at it. Question, have you guys/gals seen this and is it covered, if not and I need to pay to have them fix it I will just do a suspension up grade myself sooner then I was planning.

The dust boot doesn't really do much, it only keeps the thick dirt off the shock shaft.
If they will cover it under warrantee (I think they should) get it
replaced. If not, just cut it off. Be sure to leave the
yellow bump stop.
Stick to your schedule for suspension upgrades, and replace the boot then.

Thanks Keith,
That was kind of my thought, I would rather put the money in the exhaust. Now the but I know my wife and she will want it fixed, and it would be easier to go to Koni yellows to fix it.

On the other hand ProMini does have a Bilstein, H&R Sport Springs package for $923.75.

That won't fix it... the Koni's don't come with dust boots, you
have to reuse the stock ones. I could probably swap in a
new dust boot in about an hour. (not that I am
volunteering)

Don't worry, I wanted to do the Bilstein PSS 9 system with the H&R's but that wasn't til next year.
