Yeah .. I've seen a few in Bangkok .. they're extremely expensive
(well, most cars are expensive there anyway) .. Cooper S are running
around $70K

holy crap... I should import mine... you can live like a king for years
with $70k in Thailand... my aunt is from Thailand and when my mom
went to visit her family last year she was amazed at all the great food
you could get for almost nothing...

I spoke with BMW military sales rep today and tried to get the address and phone number for the dealership as I want to be there when they do the grand opening. No luck so far. I sent a request to BMW AG and to Mini Int for the info. Hopefully I will get that info before the opening on the 24th. From what I have been told by the military rep the Mini took so long to get sold here due to import taxes and luxury taxes. It will be interesting to see the prices. Edited by ArmyDog |

fine... I'll be driving it tomorrow with a "broken" cable... unless I
get ambitious and put the replacement cable in tonight... I'm
thinking that is a Monday project though since I have the day off... |

Do we need a separate forum as a support group for our MINI
blemishes? I live daily with scratches in my paint and my wife’s MCS is definitely
a "Friday Build" (or maybe even a New Year's morning after party build)...we love all the kids the same though. Edited by SNARL |

The Mini won't be officially sold until Feb 28th. The 25th is the opening for employees and dealerships. I called around to a few of the main dealerships and with a few hours work and patience trying to find people at the dealerships who could speak english I found the dealership. The manager called me back at home and asked me to show up on the 28th with my Mini. Recon this weekend to find the place. I am hoping I will be able to get there. I have to take off a half day work to do it. Also, BMW Military Sales will start selling the Mini here starting Jan 2006.

Sorry, late on the update. I did visit the Mini dealer and was greeted quite nicely by the sales staff. There were a lot of people at the dealership looking and test driving. It seemed like more people were looking at my car and taking pictures in the parking lot then were looking at the new cars in the showroom. I had 2 guys ask me if they could test drive my Mini. Hahahaha. The sales manager told me that they have over 250 orders in one week. The dealership will only be able to sell 800 a year. He also said that the wait for delivery from march will be 4 to 5 months. The MCS in Korea is being sold for @ $40K after conversion from the $ to Won. The Koreans are gitting killed on import tax and luxury tax!The MCS is only available in automatic, chrome kit, sports package. The dealeship is limited on what options are being made available. I asked about the JCW and it should be available here in a few months. It will be my promotion present or early chrismas present I hope.
