Known scam. Lots of posts all over the 'Net about it. Here's how it works:
- Person on other end of the line/e-mail has the car, is in duress (divorce, house fire, lives out of country and cannot drive car, etc). Hence the low price.
- Asks that you both use an eBay/Paypal/whatever third party financial transaction operation for "security"
- Send the $$ to this third party, get the car. If you like the car the money goes to the seller.
Here's what actually happens:
- You send the money to the third party
- You never see your money, the car, the seller again. Ever.
- You see the same car for sale on Craigslist all over the world.
Even wrecked MINIs with salvage titles sell for more than this.

Well I have 1.5 million dollars coming from a dead prince in Nigeria. I just have to send them a fee to get it processed.

No can of worms at all. A very good warning that I think a few of us are happy to keep giving every time something like this pops up.
It's fun to play with these scammers, though. I once had one going back and forth on an email exchange who wanted to buy my TV set that I had listed on Craigslist and have it shipped to Kenya (or someplace). He would send me "certified funds" of full price for my troubles. I told him I would deliver the TV personally since I was being sent to Kenya on business by my company (amazing how lucky I was). His pleading not to deliver it in person was fun for a while. Then I go bored and sent him the final mail, in proper English.

Why do these people always use broken English? In my world, that's a red flag, not an incentive to buy. But, alas, they don't live in my world. In my world, a remarkable MINI for $6,000 would be a reality!

I once had a funny email exchange with one of these guys.. Scammer: Cheap great car for 8000$ Cmere suckers Me: Why 8000$? The car is worth more way than 8000$ I want to pay 9000$ Reply: You are wise and honorable, great one! You may pay 9000$ Me: Why 9000$? I am sure the car is worth more...I want to pay 10,000$ No Reply  I wish I had screenshotted the email exchange (usa.net said pay me for email and i said bye bye).

Got the same e-mail a year ago same guy in Canada same deal but it was a black MCSC even got him to send pictures. Might even still have them around.
