So should I really wait until almost 12,000 miles for the first oil change?  I am nearly to 10,000 now and my startup number is at 2,200.

What does the number have to be before NW-MINI will do the change?

It has to be 400 miles or less for them to do it for free.  I had my first at 14,400.  It's a little tricky guessing when you will be in the zone and then trying to get an appt that works with a busy schedule and MWMini's busy schedule.

do you have any idea how it calculates it?  Mine doesn't seem to go down at a constant rate...  eh... I'll just wait until it gets closer and then drive all night the night before if necessary

 Grant

It is determined by the way the car is driven, and start ups. That,s why everybody,s service is different. Some days you do freeway driving and somedays in town running errands stop and restart.

Mike,

That is kind of what I figured... I guess I could probably get it in sooner at the cost of the starter then huh?   If it says 12K then i'll go with 12K.

Your countdown indicator is for your MINI sponsored (scheduled maint). MINI will perform an oil change once A year or as the indicator miles go below 400 miles for the first 3 years or 36000 miles. your are more than welcome to change your oil more frequently as so many of the members do at your expense.
