Most people thing oversteer in a MINI is not possible. With proper tire pressure and injudicious lifting, it is possible.

Amazing enough, it was a clean run. It was looking so good, clean and fast until...

The ABSOLUTELY HARDEST thing you'll ever do is to accelerate when the back end starts to come around in a corner, especially when you aren't planning on it, like maybe on a cloverleaf type of offramp.  The best place to practice lift throttle oversteer is in T2 at the track - long sweeper.

Once you get it down, it becomes a steering technique, and the offramp becomes a playground!

I've been there...that was the only thing that saved my butt on an offramp in Portland once. Goes against what your mind wants you to do that's for sure.

And you can see the results if you continue to lift. And I knew it a couple micro seconds after it was too late.

Would not this style of driving go from AutoX to Drifting? I don't think front wheeled vehicle score real high on the Drifting circuit. Nice video, thanks for sharing Thumbs%20Up

I always subscibe to MINIROX' wisdom.  "When in doubt, power out"....

With my 22MM sway bar, the back end is much more lively than before and an end swap could happen pretty easily.  BTW, I hear that most Porsche wrecks are the result of letting off the gas in a corner.  I'm sure my old buddy ONRAMP can speak to that.

I was trying to get into position for the turn around so I was trying to lift. Once I broke loose I ended up lifting more and over corrected swapping ends. Christmas treed the warning lights and had a bit of a time restarting. This was the first time for me to completely lose control of the car on course.

Keith told me to lift at that corner to get around the zig so I could set up wide for the turn around, I was just a little too early and a little too much. My previous runs I pushed wide on the last gate making the turn around too sharp and losing lots of time.

that was supposed to be a quick lift, then back on the gas.   Get the car settled, then brake for the turnaround.

that was the perfect opportunity to get the feeling of a light rear end.  Now, lots of time to think about it before you get to practice ...

Now you tell me!

I understood what you were saying and I knew what I was suppose to do, I just didn't do it.

Ahh, Rob.  Yes, you speak of the TERMINAL lift throttle oversteer.  Usually ineffectively corrected by panicked countersteering back and forth leading to more violent whipsawing and possibly even dislocated thumbs.  I, of course, have no clue about this.  Truth is, I have no clue about this because of the panic induced selective memory syndrome.

So I'm told...

The other part of the Porsche thing is that most Porsche damage is to the back of the car if that tells you anything about what happens next.
