App name:  Waze
App function:  crowd source traffic reporting.

FYI, if you use google maps with the traffic layer turned on, Waze info is already integrated into that.  Using Waze gives you the ability to contribute to the system by uploading incidents/hazards/speedtraps/etc.
You do not need the Waze app installed/running to contribute to Google's traffic flow info though.  If you have location services turned on for your phone, you automatically contribute avg. speed and location info.  That's how google maps has the most accurate traffic info.

Waze has been out for several years now. It's a pretty useful app.

Love using waze!  Also love editing the maps...  It is true, it's been out for quite a few years, but has been greatly improved as of late since it was bought out by Google for almost 1B...
