Thanks in advance for any help for a newbie!  I've just been to the novice class run by the NW Alfa Club and left the car as I'd run it every day, meaning I did not have sport mode on (I know, gasp Wink) and had the DSC turned on.  I wanted to see how the car handled how I would normally be running it.

Now that I want to explore autocross a bit more, should I run the car in sport mode and with the DSC not on at the next HPDE class?

Thank you!
Rachel

YES!  Definitely.  DSC will cause your car to try to keep you out of situations that you really do want to be entering in an autocross situation.  In my first auto-x, I left the DSC on, and took third place.  Staying for the afternoon session, I turned the DSC off, and immediately shaved 2 seconds off my time.  That would have given me first place in the morning session.

Actually, now that I typed all that, let me back up a bit and advise that you may want to run your first couple of runs in auto-x with DSC on, then turn it off.  The change will be like night and day.

Thanks!  I will try it both ways to see the difference back to back.  On all the skills we get multiples turns so it will be interesting to see it both ways.  On the skid pad last time we couldn't recreate any spin even using the ebrake, which given that all this was new to me, was just fine.  Though I'd like to experience a bit more this time.

Thanks for the help!
