On day one of Mini ownership, I was motoring around and noticed a fairly loud rattle in the dash.  It comes and goes, depending on how bumpy the road is.  I would feel neurotic taking it in to service to check on this tiny little noise.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but maybe there is a quick fix?

If you have time take it in. They are pretty good about fixing them quickly.  It sounds like one of the standard rattles.

Standard rattle? Is that a Cooper thing? Not that I want a rattle in my car, any odd noise and I am investigating.
Driving in Europe is more fun!

I think it is a Cooper thing, but im not totally sure, i know that it is prominent in 03's but i guess in other years too.  I really only hear it when im taking corners above 50, so i usually forget about it, if i remember ill tell NW MINI next time i go in.

Hmmm....a Cooper thing eh?  I suppose I'm a little protective of her in these early weeks.  Any little thing and I think I should get it checked out.  If a little rattle is the worst of my problems, I'm happy with that!

In case anyone is interested....the rattle seems to have gone away completely.  I guess all my fast driving did the trick!

It has been a year since this topic was talked about, but has anyone come across a fix for the "Under the dash rattle?" It has started on YakiMini and I would like to gone. Especially since I have to listen to it for several hours as I'm coming over the mountains...
Has anyone taken their dash apart? I've done it with other vehicles I've owned, but I don't want to just jump into this one blind....

Thanks,
Tristan

I've seen a thread that talks of a solution for the Rattle Under the Dash if anyone is in need of this fix?

Rattles. Ugh. I'm a little surprized at how many I have in mine. Maybe I just don't notice them in my wifes convertible because of the additional noise, but mine seems to have more than it's fair share. They drive me nuts!

Mine has kind of a plastic creaking sound when the dash gets hot.

I have a least 4 different rattles. The thread that I found on NAM address the Rattle in the Dash.
