I posted a question a month ago asking if anyone has experienced a rattle in their dash because one was developing in mine.  I have been going through the drive and touch method of trying to determine just where it has been coming from.  At first I could touch the speedometer and stop it, but lately it has been getting worse.  I decided that I wasn't going to be able to fix it myself because it had turned into a constant buzz.  Mostly on the driver's side of the dash, involving the plastic between the dashboard and the windscreen.

I called NW MINI today and have an appointment for Monday.  The lady I talked to (Erin?) was familiar with my problem and said it is a 5 hour fix.  The dash has to be removed and a "centering pin" has to be fixed or replaced.  Under warranty.

I assume that my 2003 has a few more miles on it than most, (36,400).  It might be something to look out for.

interesting... I have a variety of rattles and buzzes but I figure most of them are from the crap in my glove compartment and other stuff floating around the car.  I can't hear any of mine at highway speeds or with the radio at standard volume.

Let us know how the repair goes.

Oh man!!

It's like a new car again.

Thanks NW Mini.

Dropped it off Sunday night and it was ready 12:40PM Monday.  No more dash rattle.  They even fixed a not so bad rattle that was coming from the sun roof area and replaced my brake fluid.
