Return to This Is MINIs On The Beach!  Back by popular demand!  This is an overnight trip with a two-day minimum stay.  We depart Friday, June 10th and return Sunday, June 12th.

Ocean Spray Beach Resort, 360-267-2205, 1757 State Route 105, Grayland, WA
Cabins have been reserved under the name Bruce and Stacie Hart with PSMINI.  When you call to reserve your cabin, you'll change the reservation to your name and secure it with your credit card.  Any remaining reservations in our name will be released on May 9, 2016, so be sure to book before then!

The Ocean Spray Beach Resort features 10 unique and charming cottages, each with their own personality.  Cottages sleep two, four or six people, so some folks may choose to double up.  All cottages have fully equipped kitchens, complimentary coffee, DVD players and electric fireplaces.  There's an outdoor fire pit, gas grills and a children's play area.

For more details, go to
http://www.oceanspraybeachresort.com

A downloadable PDF of the directions to the Ocean Spray Beach Resort is here!

Attendee List as of 2/28/16:  All cabins are booked!
Wow they booked up fast!  Note there may be rooms/beds available with the Boones and Adams.  Also, there are many hotels in the Grayland/Westport area for those that still want to party and motor with

Cabin 1 - Waibels (Jeff & Shari)
Cabin 2 - Steve Fleming +1
Cabin 3 - Steve Lomnicki
Cabin 4 - Ashley Poeppel & Nick Ortakales
Cabin 5 - MacCauls (Rob & Joann)/Wilds (Martin, Anne, Andy, Gunnar) - 2 cars
Cabin 6 - Belles (Max & Jayme)
Cabin 7 - Boones (Sue & Dennis) - Extra bedroom
Cabin 8 - Adams (Deanna & Ben) - Extra beds
Cabin 9 - Harts (Bruce, Stacie, Elliott, Hazel)
Cabin 10 - Baxters (Steve & Sheryl)

Friday, June 10th:

Depart on your own and make your way to the Ocean Spray Beach Resort.
Last year we attempted a 3:00pm meet up in Federal Way with others joining us along the route.  Friday traffic conditions made this quite challenging.  This year, Bruce and Stacie will post a group Glympse.  Anyone who wants to join will be able to see our location and the location of any other cars who join the group.  Watch this post for the group Glympse as the drive approaches.  Go to Glympse.com and click Get Glympse to download the app.

Google Maps estimates the drive to be 2 hours and 15 minutes from Southcenter without traffic (120 miles).  Note:  Driving directions include a stop at the Safeway at Mud Bay Rd. and Cooper Point Rd. in Olympia for all your rest stop and last minute grocery needs.

7:00 pm:  Burger and Brat Cookout at the Ocean Spray Beach Resort in Grayland, Washington.
You'll bring a cooler with some
groceries for the cookout.  We'll bring supplies and wooden skewers for making s'mores around the fire pit.  There are gas grills on site.  All cabins have full kitchens with full size refrigerators.

Saturday, June 11th:

9:00 am:
After a night of heavy (moderate- we do have an 11 am event!) drinking, make yourself some breakfast.

Last year's Saturday schedule changed at the last minute due to tide
conditions.  Come with an open mind and set your watch to vacation mode.
Upon our arrival, we'll discuss tide conditions for the beach drive
with the owners and firm up plans with the group at Friday's cookout.

11:00 am:  PSMINI MINIs On The Beach Drive.  Time is approximate based on tide conditions.
We are planning, conditions
permitting, to go South from Grayland Beach Road to Cranberry Beach Road
(1.3 miles) and beyond for the more adventurous.  No twisties on this
one, just miles of packed sand and a group photo on the beach!  Scared you'll get stuck in the sand?  Only two cars got stuck last year, and they both made it out without much fuss.  Plus, this year's drive is earlier in the season so the sand on the beach approaches shouldn't be as dry as last year.  We promise not to leave anybody behind!
Most MINIs should be able to do this; if your car has been lowered
quite a bit you might want to reconsider this part of the drive.

You time:  Visit the Grays Harbor Lighthouse, the observation tower in Downtown Westport, Westport Brewing Co., the Tinderbox Coffee Roasters or the Pomegranate gift shop across the street.  Anytime on Saturday would also be a good time to
take a leisurely stroll on the beach, build a sand castle or maybe even
do a little beach driving on your own!  Don't forget to visit the fish docks along Westhaven Dr. to buy some fresh fish for the Saturday night Seafood Cookout in the courtyard of the Ocean Spray.  The more adventurous might want to charter a boat and catch some even fresher fish!  Note: Charter boats leave around 6:00am.

2:30 pm:  Group visit to the Westport Winery.  Five tastes for $5, waived with a purchase.  They have over 30 wines and hard ciders to choose from.  Don't forget to get something that goes well with your fish!

6:00 pm: PSMINI Seafood Cookout

Sunday, June 12th:

9:00 am:  After an early night, cook yourself some breakfast.

11:00 am:  Checkout

Things to Bring:
1.  An FRS Radio set to channel 7-21 (for the beach drive)
2.  A full tank of gas
3.  Camp chairs (There are 2 tables, 12 chairs and 4 chaise lounge chairs on site)
4.  A cooler with Friday night cookout supplies
5.  Your sweet tooth - We will have s'mores fixings and wooden campfire skewers
6.  Beach towels
7.  Sand toys
8.  Sunblock
9.  Your patience and some good tunes for rush hour traffic
10.  A sense of adventure
WooHoo

Grocery Stores:
1. There is a small grocery store across the street.
2. The Local Store is 4 miles south on WA-105.  It's small but has a wide variety of items.
3. The Shop 'n Kart, 108 S. Montesano St., is the largest option in Westport.

Restaurants:
Along Westhaven Dr., downtown Westport's main drag, you'll find several restaurants, along with ice cream and candy stores.

Coffee:
Tinderbox Coffee Roasters, 101 N. Montesano St.  (Try their black and white latte.)

Other Services:
You'll find a drug store, ATM, liquor store and gas stations along Montesano St. as you head into downtown Westport.  We'll pass the Westport Winery on our way into town, and Westport Brewing Co. is located in Westport.

See you at the beach!
Bruce and Stacie

1.  I created a group Glympse to share our location as we drive to the beach on Friday! I'll post the group name on Friday morning along with simple instructions on how to join the group.  Feel free to download the app now to check it out.  You'll be able to track our progress and share your location as well.

2.  Bruce will post the driving directions tomorrow afternoon.

3.  The weather forecast is for 60 degrees and rainy for Friday and Saturday.  Cry  Here's hoping things clear up before that.  I still plan to bring s'mores supplies and hope for the best!

See you all soon!
Stacie

Back by popular demand, it's a good old fashioned feedback post!  Before facepage took over our lives, this is how we shared pictures and discussed how the event went!  Let's step back in time...

A brief and somewhat heavy rain shower greeted our Friday night Burger and Brat cookout.  As you can see, umbrellas were a must.

Pretty cars, pretty cabins.

By the time we ate, however, the skies had cleared and we really didn't see rain again for the rest of the weekend!

Saturday morning brought the drive on the beach.  It was wonderful to see the packed sand on the approach, and after about 2 1/2 miles down the sand it was time for a group shot.  Eventually everybody cleared out and I got a shot of just the cars!  Then Steve walked in, hamming it up for the camera.  Can you see me running into the "self timer" shot with all the people and cars?  I didn't make it!

For almost an hour we clowned around out there on the beach, moving our cars to get beauty shots, dipping our feet in the ocean, hooning in the sand (that's Nick making donuts in the sand, but many others followed) and just enjoying the sun.

Some just wanted to play in the sand!

Some found a way to dig in the sand without a shovel!  Don't worry, we didn't leave Steve and Sheryl (or anybody else) behind!  Half a dozen people can easily push a MINI out- and we had several others dig themselves in as well.

Sometimes, you just need to go back and make some sand castles!  Saturday night brought more beautiful weather for the Fish Fry, and once again we sat around the fire pit and made S'mores!

Sunday morning brought more beautiful weather, which led Steve and Nick to venture to the beach for even more hooning!  They can't get enough.

After checking out, we took the route through Shelton and up 101 and Highway 3 with the Wilds, the McCauls and Deanna and Ben who led.  It turned out to be a nice drive with little traffic and actually was shorter than driving back on I-5.  And, from just outside of Westport, through Aberdeen to Highway 108 we picked up a tail- another Silk Green MINI!  What are the chances of that?  As we turned off we honked and waved and they did too.  If you were in that car, this is what was going on over the weekend- and you're welcome to join the club and join us next year!

Speaking of- watch this forum for an announcement!

Hey Bruce,

Thanks for the Great Old-Fashioned Feedback post!  So there is life outside of Facebook!  Love the photos, especially the glamour shots of MINIs on the Beach!  :-)  Looks like FUN!

ROCK ON!

P.S.  Speaking of old-fashioned, don't tell Uber, but here's a Mini Taxi . . . no app required ;-)

WooHoo
