I'm starting to find little chips in the paint on the hood and one on my
passenger side door. I even have one in my bonnet, which looks white once
it chips. Short of having parts of it completely repainted, any suggestions
on touch up?

I've seen some paint companies online that you enter your vehicle
information and they have paint pens that match the paint color, then you
apply a topcoat. Has anyone tried these? Looks like they are suited for
nothing larger than a teeny chip.

Thanks!

I made the mistake of not getting the clear "bra" when I bought my Mini.  The poor little critter seems to get pummeled with rocks and what-not.  I have been using the paint pen and just recently bought a bottle of touch-up paint.  The pen is convenient but the tip is rather wide and tends to output more paint than needed.  I usually end up using a toothpick as the “brush”.

I did get that clear "bra".  After seeing the pits in Rob's paint at the Northgate MINI show, I figured that was a no-brainer, especially when considering the amount and type of driving I do daily.  I was noting last weekend that Kirby has some pretty good chips in the windshield, but nothing on the nose.

There are places that will do aftermarket clear "bras", sonce you may want to consider that once the paint touch-ups are complete.

Kenru,

Where did you get the pen & touch up? It sounds like you've come up with a
pretty good process? Do you use the top coat also?

I picked up my touch-up paint from http://www.paintscratch.com/.  Color match is good, service is fine etc.

I stopped by Griots a couple weeks ago after a stop at NW Mini and asked a similar question. They sold me a tube of fine tip touch-up applicators that work pretty well. I think they were $7 or $8 for about 25 of them.
