Hi Karen - we are all meeting at Anthony’s Home Port in Des Moines at noon sharp and then travelling together to the festival, which is located at the Landmark at the Sound. I’ve been working at the festival all afternoon and watched the Triumphs come in for their car show. The festival organizers coned off all the front parking spots for the Triumphs and the cars sat there all day. VIP parking! Yeah, so that got me thinking and talking to the person in charge of the cones…. As Brenda mentioned in the last post, the organizers are now going to cone off the same front row parking area for the MINIs tomorrow!!
 Tip: You will get 10 tasting tokens with your ticket although bring cash if you want to buy extra wine tasting tokens. They are $1 a piece. See you all tomorrow at Anthony’s Home Port - noon sharp!

Hi all!
I talked with Alison today and she said we get priority parking for the entire day tomorrow right on the waterfront. How awesome is that?! See ya all tomorrow. We're planning on attending so that we can meet some of you and see the gathering of the Mini's! What is the plan for the festivities? If it's working the wine tasting I'll see if I can get Jan a 'tea totaler' pass as she can't drink vino (migraines - yuck). Look forward to meeting you guys. |

Hi all, Wine festival update: We are in the news!! http://www.waterlandblog.com/2010/03/01/another-reason-to-attend-poverty-bay-wine-fest-mini-coopers-on-sunday/ More good news: A gated private beach club granted us permission to enter their gates for ½ hour (max) so we can get pictures of the MINIs alongside the Puget Sound! It is an awesome location so I hope the weather holds up so we can get some great pictures! After the picture taking session, we’ll motor to the actual “Poverty Bay” area of Des Moines and then to Redondo Beach boardwalk to show off. I’ll then turn us all around and head back for some wine tasting. I clocked the run at 35 minutes (+ 10 minutes for pictures) so we should arrive at the wine festival at approximately 1:00 pm. The Waterland Blog photographer will be there to capture our arrival also! Speed limits in Des Moines range from 25-35 so we’ll adhere to that! I received a tip today that the Triumph club has 18 cars showing up on Saturday so I hope we can beat that number on Sunday!!

Update: I'm working on a short motor south from our meeting place at Anthony's Home Port through some twisties (and hopefully stopping off at a private beach club for a photo op... I'm working on it!) to Redondo and back again to Des Moines ending up at the wine festival. Bring your camera and walkie talkie set to channel 7/21... |
