For every 10 degrees F you loose about 1 PSI as I understand it.
But, what about how long it takes to warm the air in the tire on a really cold day? Recommended pressure is given as "cold" pressure so the assumption is the optimal tire pressure occurs after the tire has warmed up. But, can that happen with one lap on an x-cross course when the ambient air temperature is 30 degrees? Should you over-inflate the tire for the one lap? I don't have the money for fancy F1 tire warmer blankets Thanks! |

I found that it didn't really matter what the pressure in my tires was (within reason) as long as my rears were about 2 PSI higher than the front. That was the sweet spot for me. They pretty much warmed up evenly so it worked out fine. With Autocross there is enough sitting around and the courses short enough that there wasn't much heat in the tires anyway.
