I have the hankook ventus v4es and i have only put 10k miles on them and their shot.... I am ordering new tires here in a week.
My family friend owns Evergreen tire and wheel and he normally gives me pretty good deals on tires. I am just curious because these are my 3 options for tires. I like the yokohamas better then hankook. the price just gets higher. What would you all recommend out of these 3 tires. So there is 1. Yokohama advan neova ad08 dont know pricing yet. thinking $600... 2. Hankook k110 w/ mounting and balancing 425$ 3. Yokohama parada spec 2 w/ mounting and balancing 475$ What do you all think the better deal/tire is? |

How do you drive? - what are your wet / cold weather traction requirements? - how big a factor is noise? will you be trackingyour car? Auto-X? what speed raiting are you considering? Is ride quality a consideration? Is "style" important?

I drive fast and take corners fast. I live in Spokane where it snows a ton, but dont ever plan on driving it in the snow. I hate driving it in the rain. so mostly dry... My car is already noisy as it is so I dont care. I would like to track my car after i take a class on how to safely do so! and i never go past 125. I dont care about style, I just want a good tire that i can take corners on safely.

Not to be a stinker, but may I recommend that you remove the "top speed" number... it's for your own good... :-)
personally I like the look of the 1st tire.... Edited by YakiMini - July/30/09 at 4:32pm |

Jacob I keep in mind that most performance cornering tires are soft and you don't get a lot of miles out of them
Yokohama advan neova ad08 is original equipment on the Lotus Elise. Hankook k110 is more of a high performace all season Yokohama parada spec 2 are a well known tuner tire with good grip |

Well i dont make it many miles as it is anyway. Im thinking about picking up some older wheels 17' and putting my worn out tires so when i need to do long drives/winter time ill put them on.
I also only really use the top speed on the drives between east and west. but yes I will slow it down :) I personally love the look of the first tire, but think maybe the spec 2 would be reasonable?? I am going to find out the firm price on those advans tomorrow. If I can get a good deal i might order those. |

Do you get any other choices, nice price on the Pradas, tire rack has just the tire foe 87 each.
What size Jacob? |

wow those are pretty cheap then.... I might have to order the tires from tire rack.
I think i want to stay with 205/45/17 I get some rubbing on the rear when i go over a speed bump a little to quick or hit a big bump in the road. |

+38 i believe..... not to sure on the offset. Its just cause there's not much clearance in the back. I think i might try 215/45/17 though. After reading some of the other posts about tire sizes on Nam it seems like I can sneak away with it.
These are the falken azenis rt-615. around $125 a tire so around $550 w/ install. I've heard these things are really stickyyy. I also decided to look for other tires, I don't want to restrict myself to just 3 tires. So i spent about 10 hours looking for tires online. phew what a day :) |

Jacob, if you're thinking of the Falken Azenis, take a look at the Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=Dunlop&model=Direzza+Sport+Z1+Star+Spec
Awesome sticky tires and they are incredible on the track. If I wasn't going to R-compound tires next year, I'd be going back to those. The Bridgestone RE-01Rs that I'm running now don't seem as responsive or as quick on the track. Comparing videotape with last year, my lap times are a couple seconds slower. Also, there is a $60 rebate right now from Dunlop. Tread life would be comparable to the Falkens but it sounds like that isn't a big deal for you. |

I can only refuse cause i want headers :) I got work all this week so I'll be able to get the tires, but I really want Jans header. Speaking of that.... whats the difference between the race/street header? ( i could have sworn he said there was 2 different headers) I just installed the alta air diverter last night. fairly easy install w/ the sprayer. Ordering the OCC today hopefully.

Haha, the joys of modding!
The race header will give you a little more power. I haven't seen back to back dynos to see what the difference is though. Ask Jan. Pricing difference may be significant too. Shop around for the OCC. You don't want to spend $100 more just for an etched logo on top. Right JohnF? |

Also, since the tubes on the race header is longer, there is more exhaust work since you can't just bolt your cat-back on.

I'll have to bother Jan about it. street header probably makes more sense for me anyways. I just like the idea of a race header.
I would like to get the tires orderd and installed at a local shop ( none in mind, but it would be hell to try to take 4 tires to the shop and take my old 4 home) It would be easier to just have them shipped there. Discount tire offers some price match, I might head down there to see if I can bargain with them lol |

My experience with Discount is that they are always willing to deal.
I ordered a set of track wheels from Tire Rack and I'm having it sent directly to the shop. I'm going to swap over my RE-01Rs to them and just burn them up this year. |

42 should not be that bad unless you really have it slammed with coilovers. Which brings up a question if you dropped it did you install adjustable control arms(dogbones, etc.)

i have rear control arms.... well since my car has gotten broken into twice in the past month and i caught some man looking in it really late last night I decided to get a cheap alarm kit. So as I was driving home down a one way road a toyota corolla decided to go the wrong way.... three lane road and i swerved nearly missing a head on collision but i was sideways and then back the other way trying to correct it.... well I got it under control, but pooped my pants! Long story short, I have no tires because what was remaining decided to go up with the huge smoke trail i left behind. I guess that online defensive driving call i took when i was 15 1/2 sure paid off lololololol
If i was in any other car i would have went head on with this phsyco driver who drove the wrong way. So looks like new tires are going to get ordered here in a few days when my paycheck arives. |
