Most of us have heard about the "MINIs on the Dragon" (MOTD) run.

My question is, do we have any roads out here Western Washington)that compare to the Dragon?  I can't imagine that the Dragon could compare to the mountain roads that we have in and around the Olympics & the Cascades.

We have a book with the roads of the NW and it rates them on curves and drivability.  We should really look at that.  But the Dragon is actually called the Tail of the Dragon and they even have website for it.

Here it is for those that have not hear of it or seen it.

The Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, with 318 curves in 11 miles, is America ’s number one motorcycle and sports car road.

That is taken from the website.  I don't know of any road around here that boast that many curves in that short of a distance.

The road out to Neah Bay is pretty good, but maybe only 50 turns in 11 miles...

Imagine that road in San Francisco but more lanes and 11 miles long

There is this one road in Oregon on the Washington border that is 11 miles long and is mostly switch backs. I have not counted the curves BUT it WILL make you dizzy. It is off of Us30 on the Columbia River and heads South from Clatskanie to Mist Oregon.

We have not taken this road in the MINI yet - but it is a blast on a bike!

Maybe somebody heard me

West Coast Coopers is putting on a West Coast Event to the Northern California Redwoods via Avenue of the Giants.  Sounds pretty cool.

We drove this section of Hwy-47 in our MINI on our back from the Run to the Sea after taking the Tillamook County Creamery tour. It rates up there with my experience on The Tail of the Dragon and it is much closer. My wife was a little queasy afterwards.

Since I still needed more twisties, we drove on another road just north of Clatskanie through Inglis, Quincy, Locoda, Downing, and ends in Alston at US-30. The road follows some railroad tracks and the Columbia River and comes within 4 miles of the Lewis and Clark Bridge (Hwy-433).

Hwy 47 from Manning (Hwy 26) through Vernonia OR (and Mist) to Hwy 30 in Clatskanie OR ... It’s 42 miles and takes about an hour and a half.
