Back in the 60's - the words Mini Cooper and Monte Carlo Rally were synonymous. They were THE car to go rallying in.

I dont know about you guys but Mini coming back WRC rally is the most exciting news in rallying in a long time!!

So what is all the fuss about? Monte Carlo rallying is a form of Time-Speed-Distance rallying - something that a few members of this club have experienced recently on my April Friday Nighter "Jack & Jill went up the hill!". I think CORNERS would agree that this is actually kind of HARD and staying on time is almost impossible (on a challenging rally).

The ORCA rallying club has agreed to put on a T.S.D Rally class which will be held on Saturday, June 4th. Class will be held in the Redmond Area.

The course is taught by the ORCA (http://www.olympicrally.org/) Club President, Bob Sjodin, who has been rallying for over 40 years and has a wealth of rallying knowledge. He even used to teach this as a class at a local community college. He is probably most famous for the traps he writes in his rallies.

The class runs from 9am to approx. 4pm. Schedule is normally classroom from 9am to about 12 noon. Then off on a rally that includes a break for lunch in the middle.
Then after the rally conclusion we go through the rally piece by piece to ensure you understand everything.

The class will include printed training materials for you to keep. :thumbsup2:

The cost will be approximately $20 to cover costs and there will probably be a discount for ORCA club members (if you would like join as part of the course). ORCA club members enjoy a $5 discount on all NWRC rallies including the Friday nighter rally series that was on last week. Feel free to join up - we would love to have you as members of our club as well.

The next rally (in May) will very likely not be as challenging and can probably be run without needing the class. However, Bob Sjodin who is the instructor for the T.S.D. class, is running the June Friday Nighter rally the week after the class - so to be competitive - the class will be VERY helpful! :D

Feel free to post your interest here until I get registration details sorted out.

June 4th is a bad day for the club, it is our yearly run to Stonehenge and the drive on Maryhills loop road. So please don't think there is no interest if not a lot of people step forward. What you are doing is great and I myself would love to see more Mini's at these TSDs. We would like to make one of these, to help hone our skills but it is hard because of the distance.

If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.
